| Details: | Ares' primary space-borne facility, the Daedalus is the largest orbital habitat other than Freeside. It is probably the most diverse orbital, however, in terms of its functions. Ares uses the Daedalus as a factory, a research facility, a holding facility, a safehouse, a surveillance platform, as well as a jumping-off point for spacecraft with destinations beyond Earth-orbit. Its full capabilities are not known to the general public, though it is suspected that it has weapons systems which would rival those installed aboard the UCAS' Justice Orbital Defense Platform. |

think you'd be surprised. Sometimes a company will develop a razor's
edge product and then keep it to themselves for years before allowing
word one to leak out about it. Mono-edge blades (for example) were developed
decades before they became available for "properly licensed security
providers." After the R&D was finished, monoblades spent a
decade in private testing. Then they spent another decade in the hands
of intelligence agencies and military (and --yes, by that time-- corporate)
special ops units. Only AFTER that time did rumors even begin to circulate
about their existence. I would believe that such is the case w/ Daedalus'

for one, there are more than a few rumors being kicked around abt Ares
having a moonbase. That's mostly speculation, nothing confirmed. There
are a few other rumors placing them as having (or attempting to have)
a base on Mars' surface. And still other rumors that they're trying

Way I heard it, Ares put a base on the moon in an attempt to scoop up
resources to put twd this starship project of theirs. Not that I've
ever been there or anything, but I've got a friend w/ a telescope that

of that story long enough (and squinted hard enough), you'd see that
it was all a part of one Senator's plot to get funding for a "space
program." The phrasing of the budget line-items were vague enough
that when it came time to put the digits on the check, the funding all
got re-routed into projects like the Justice and the North/Southstar
surveillance platforms. The fact that the UCAS moonbase project was
