Details: | The Gateway Foundation, established in 2040, is centered around the ideal that mankind's next logical evolution is toward space. Following this rationale, they gathered funds to construct a significant habitat and colonize it with a core population. A peaceful population, the habitat is a designated demilitarized zone who maintains strict security only for the purpose of maintaining this non-violent status. The foundation embraces individuals of all meta-types and from all walks of life. Gateway is a self-sufficient institution in that it relies only on the Gateway Foundation and not on any government grants or corporate sponsorship. It is solely a residential habitat, with a few laboratories and factory facilities. |
>>>>>[Wholly
independent? How is that possible?]<<<<< >>>>>[Despite
official Foundation rhetoric and press-releases, they are not fully
independent. They recieve rather large annual contributions from one
Damien Knight. Knight made it possible for the Gateway Foundation to
loft this orbital. The Gatekeeper (just as an example) was Knight's
2051 gift to the Foundation. In 2054, Knight made a personal visit to
Gateway oversee its first month of operation. Last year he contributed
over 5¥ million to the Foundation (the most he's ever personally
contributed). The year before that, Knight arranged for the agricultural
facilities aboard Gateway to be upgraded over the course of the next
four years.]<<<<< |
