Delateralization
The human brain is genetically hardwired to "lateralize" itself. What this means is that it chooses a dominant side (left or right). Over time, lateralized organisms adjust to this sided-ness in such a way that they are accustomed to performing actions with the one side leading, but it becomes increasingly difficult over time to use the "off" side. Using this procedure, gene therapists can delateralize an individual to allow them to become ambidextrous. However, the procedure only delateralizes at the genetic level, it is then up to the individual to train themselves to use both sides.
