Babeljack
[ description | comments | game data ]

A variation on the chipjack, the Babeljack is designed specifically for Linguasofts. Tied in with both Broca's area (for language production) and Wernicke's area (for language comprehension), the Babeljack provides unparalleled access speeds for Linguasofts, with latency times as low as 12 nanoseconds for the translation of 30-40 word sentences with second-order subordinate clauses*. Allowing complete interface with the chip, the Babeljack enables full use of all Linguasofts in a way that make users seem like a fluent, native speakers of any tongue.

* = Figures represent mean latency times for listening-comprehension across the entire 2054 BabelSoft catalog of Linguasoft chips (SD = 6 ns). Test subjects were native speakers of Cantonese, English, French, German, Italian, Japenese, Korean, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu, and all scored above 500 on the Third Revised Wallace-Underwood Grammar Standardization Test. The mean latency time for the production of a similarly complex sentence was 15 nanoseconds (SD = 22 ns).

>>>>>[Slick, but they fail to mention how it works. With a chipjack the linguasoft functions like an X-to-Y dictionary, translating whole thoughts; you've still got to attempt to speak the words. The Babeljack actually bypasses/overrides the language center of your brain. That's right...you can't communicate in your "native" tongue while you're slotted. Your stuck with whatever you've got chipped.]<<<<<

>>>>>[That's not true anymore. That might've been true w/ a few of the beta models but I know that BabelSoft and Fuchi fixed their respective bugs and that Yametetsu's Babeljack never had that problem.]<<<<<
